Academic Tutor
Openwork is seeking a dedicated Academic Tutor to deliver individualized and small group academic support to youth and young adults, particularly those who are in foster care or have aged out of the system. This role is designed for candidates passionate about education, mentoring, and helping young people build the skills necessary for academic and personal success. As an Academic Tutor, you will work directly with students ages 14 to 25, offering tutoring across core subjects, coaching on life skills, and supporting students in overcoming educational challenges. The position offers flexible after-school hours and requires travel to various tutoring locations in Liberty County and surrounding areas. Services may be provided in-person, virtually, or in a hybrid format, allowing for adaptability to student needs. Academic Tutor - Summary
- Provide one-on-one and small group academic support to youth ages 14 to 25

Duties & Responsibilities
- Tutor students individually and in small groups across a range of academic subjects
- Assist students with homework assignments and preparation for tests
- Help students develop effective study habits, organizational skills, and time management strategies
- Provide coaching and support both in-person at designated locations and online as needed
- Travel regularly to tutoring sites throughout Liberty County and neighboring areas
- Track and document student attendance and academic progress accurately and in a timely manner
- Attend required trainings, team meetings, and special events as scheduled
- Support the mission of empowering youth through education and skill-building

Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred; consideration given to candidates with relevant college coursework
- Experience tutoring, mentoring, or working with adolescents and young adults
- Strong knowledge in math, science, and language arts subjects
- Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and current auto insurance
- Availability to work after-school hours Monday through Thursday
- Proficiency using Microsoft Teams and access to a personal computer
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Patient, dependable, and genuinely interested in helping young people succeed
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly to various tutoring locations
